Ignacio Itarte (San Sebastián, 1968) es fotógrafo, y ni sus estudios de económicas o de periodismo han conseguido impedirlo; es lo que ha querido ser.
No necesita cabalgar sobre un tigre pues es capaz de volar en torno a los Kopis de Serengeti, incluso ya solo con su mente, cuando retorna a los atardeceres un tanto apocalípticos de su piso de Madrid o al silencio de su refugio en Asturias a editar sus últimas capturas fotográficas tras uno de sus frecuentes viajes a África.
Cuando esté próximo de nuevo a esas hierbas, a los polvos de esas tierras, quizá en búsqueda de una imagen de ese elusivo animal que falta en sus archivos, los telepáticos seres que lo habitan, percibirán esa proximidad durante un instante y seguirán tranquilos: un amigo vuelve a visitarlos.
Ignacio Itarte (San Sebastián, Spain, 1968) is a photographer. Despite studying economics and journalism, photography was what he wanted to do.
He doesn’t need to ride a tiger. He’s capable of flying over the Kopis of the Serengeti - even if it is just in his mind - long after he has returned to the somewhat dramatic sunset evenings of his Madrid flat or to the silence of his refuge in Asturias to edit the latest images captured on camera.
When he’s next back amid the grass and the dust of those lands, perhaps in search of that image of some elusive animal that is missing from his collection of work, the telepathic beings that live there will feel that he is near just for an instant and then continue their calm existence knowing it’s just a friend come to visit.
